Research Progress on Reliability, Preparation Technology and Clinical Application of Zirconia Dental Ceramic
Zirconia ceramic is considered as a preferential candidate for clinical teeth restorations due to the excellent mechanical, aesthetic properties and biocompatibility, and has been used as fixed partial dentures(FPD) and implants. However, zirconia ceramic easily occurs low-temperature degradation(LTD) in humid environments, thus seriously damaging the reliabilities and restricting the clinical applications. We introduced the transformation mechanism of low-temperature degradation and emphasized on the inhabitation methods of LTD in the following respects, i.e., improving the free energy of t–m transformation, inhibiting the annihilation of oxygen vacancy and tailoring the residual stress. The preparation technology, clinical stability and clinical assessment results of dental ceramics are stated. Finally, the future development perspectives of clinical application of zirconia ceramic were also proposed.
